Matricaria discoidea
Pineapple weed is a low-growing aromatic relative of chamomile. Crushing the yellow-green flower heads releases the pineapple-like scent behind its common name.1
Food notes
Both flowers and leaves are edible, and the flowers are used as an infusion plant.1
A useful oddity
Unlike familiar daisy-like chamomile flowers, pineapple weed lacks white ray petals. Its rounded greenish-yellow head often appears almost petalless.1
